Texas - Rookie marks are the new black.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm not into tattoos but I always thought that would be a cool one to get. It would be a forever rookie mark.

What is a rookie mark? Running your leg against the chain or chainring?

What is a rookie mark? Running your leg against the chain or chainring?Yep, a big greasy chainring imprint on the inside of your calf. I got home this morning and had a huge one.
The mtb version has blood. The blood must run clear to the sock in order to count.

MY wife got a mountain one from her road bike the other day. She fell while at a standstill. I told her that she needs to get it tattooed over....
Correction...she was almost at a standstill, but is not yet used to her pedals. I keep trying to tell her that it is nothing to be ashamed off, and that only a cyclist will know what it is...everyone else will think a cat attacked her.
Tell her it's "slow, unclip, stop", not "slow, stop, unclip" :D
Back when I was single and living in an apartment, I had chain ring tattoos EVERYWHERE. On me, on clothes, on bed spread, etc. Fitting four bikes into a small bedroom along with a bed was a challenge, until I installed hooks and hung them up.
My sons have not yet mastered the rookie mark. They tend to smear grease from the ankle to the knee, uninterrupted. Not sure how they achieve this.
And I use my Rock and Roll Gold on their chains, so it it not like their bikes chains are nasty messes.
BOYS!
