I have an ultegra 6400 RD (8speed) on my road bike. Several years ago I upgraded to a 9 speed cassette with no problems indexing through all gears. However my rear pulleys are chewed up from running the narrower chain on them. I know I can get the replacement 10 tooth pulleys for cheap, but...

Does anyone know if you can put the 11 tooth (9 speed) pulleys on a derailleur made for the 10 tooth pulleys?

I know I can just get a new 9 speed derailleur on the cheap if I look long an hard enough, but the one I have is nice and it works.

Are you sure they are chewed up fromt he narrower chain? My understanding is that the internal width of a 9 speed chain is the same as a 6/7/8 speed chain.

I would go with the 10 tooth pulleys myself. I would not be surprised if the larger pulleys cause the chain to rub on part of the derailleur cage... only one way to find out, though!
