Any clydes running the American Classic 420 wheelset? An LBS that I trust is telling me that they are bomb proof even at my size 6-1, 255.

I'm 6'3" 235 lbs. and running Easton EA90 SLs on a 6.5 Madone and having absolutely no problems. The SLs are slightly beefier than the SLXs and built for guys like us. I'm not sure about price compared to the American's but the Easton's show up on ebay from time to time.

Hmmmmm,...........interesting? An LBS that I have no reason to doubt, recently steered me away from some AC wheels because, "they're generally known to be soft and flexible" and they sell AC, so it wasn't like they were trying to steer me toward something else in stock. Looking at the manufacturers claimed weights, the 420's come in at 1530 per pair, compared with Mavic Aksiums at 1855, I would say they sound awfully light for a clyde. Anyone with first hand experience? Bueller?
For what it's worth, I'm still on Clyde Gold Standard, 36h Ultegra, OP's. But, recent questions by Platypus have me, once again, investigating lighter and lower spoke count wheel options. It's been years since I've tried anything lighter and if I do finally pull the trigger on something new I'll be sure to keep everyone informed of my experience.

Ironiclly; there is a guy in a club I just joined who goes 270 (think circus bear..FAST circus bear)and has the 420s on his Bianchi.
He loves em.
I'm thinkin "If they'll hold up under his punishment-guy has legs that could peel tubys off rims with ease-they can pretty much take the average clyde"

Thanks for the tips... in the end I ordered a set of EA90 SL's. I will let you know how it goes. -Dan
