I am looking at riding in the bike tour March 22, 2009. However, the website doesn't give much info.
Who can tell me:
Do I need to be an athlete? I usually ride 5 to 10 miles with no problem every day or every other day, and I'm 59, but in fair shape. Would the 26 miles kill me?
How much time do they allow to do it?
How do they start, all at once, a few at a time?
How many bikes total (how crowded will it be)?
I guess this is their first time, but what about people who have been in similar events. What are the general rules?
Thanks
David

You're right, the website doesn't say much. It looks like they're going to start all the bikes at the same time, although if they have a large number of people, it would be best to start them in waves about a minute apart. They'll probably expect you to keep a pace of at least a 4-5 minute mile (12-15 mph) to make sure you don't get in the way of the front runners in the running event. I don't think 26 miles will kill you, but if your 5-10 mile rides exhaust you, you'll need to pace yourself a little for 26 miles. Make sure to bring some water with you and have fun!
