NOTICE!!!!
DON'T FORGET DAYLIGHT SAVINGS STARTS MARCH 8TH!!!
*****************************
*****UPDATE*****
Start/finish location has been changed to the Park n' Ride (http://local.yahoo.com/info-24493177-park-ridesycamore-valley-road-danville?csz=Danville%2C+CA) parking lot on the northeast side of the 680/Sycamore Road intersection. This minor change allows us to start and finish right across the street from Amechi's, without causing grief for local merchants and residents.
*****************************
OK - Let's try this again
B & B Slowpoke Ride #2 will be held on Sunday, March 8th. The plan is for the ride to start in Danville, go out to Peet's Coffee (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=peets+coffee+dublin+ca&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&view=text&latlng=15139838976002351319&ei=nkuvSaTnB4nOtQOpuOxz&sa=X&oi=local_result&resnum=4&ct=result) in Dublin and return To Amechi's (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&view=text&hl=en&gl=us&q=amici%27s+danville+ca&ie=UTF8&cd=2&sll=37.809149,-121.989671&sspn=0.015316,0.047069&latlng=37708083,-121873140,8427597079618551531&ei=KEyvSZPYMYyGigPuosGqAQ) in Danville for late lunch. Mostly suburban riding on wide Blvd's with good bike lanes, and minimal/moderate climbing. Figure about 25-30 miles or so.
We will be eating at the Amechi's near the start/finish point.
****NO drops, frequent regroups, and fun for everyone - guaranteed.****
PROPOSED ROUTE:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Amechi-s-Loop-Danville-to-Dublin-back
I'm going to call an 11am start time, to allow a good peek at the weather and to let it warm up some. Start/finish location has been changed to the Park n' Ride (http://local.yahoo.com/info-24493177-park-ridesycamore-valley-road-danville?csz=Danville%2C+CA) parking lot on the northeast side of the 680/Sycamore Road intersection.
NOTE:
Bikeley SUCKS, and the cue sheet is not to be believed. I'll have accurate one's with me.
I again hope to be there! :)

I'll be there, not sure about Rumbutter, depends if he has anything else planned. I vote for lunch after the ride.

If you bring the new Dancelli, you may want to warn the others to bring welding goggles or other appropriate eye protection. :p
I usually wash my hair on March 8 at 11:00 a.m., but I'll forego my normal ritual to once again be at the back of the group the moment the road tilts even slightly upwards.
If I can get the Fuso finished and dialed in, maybe I'll bring it. Otherwise, it'll have to be the Ron Cooper or the Paramount. Oh, what a rough life with such dilemmas. :D
And I definitely vote for lunch at Amechi's. Dublin or Danville? How about both?

Yeah - I think I'm just going to call it that way. The only caveat is that Amechi's in Danville is a mile or so from the start/finish, and their parking lot is pretty small or I'd start the ride there. Maybe what I'll do is reroute the ride slightly to end there, we can eat, and then buzz down the bike path back to the cars.

So far, two responses for "maybe" and a pair for "sure".
What - do I have BO, or something?

BO? Hardly! Heck, I'd show just to drool over the Palo Alto and show off our Simonetti, but Chris will be working and I'm racing that day. Joel S is right; this racing thing is interfering with my social riding.
I'm all for the pizza, though. :)

Actually its just that no one likes you anymore. Based on the the overwhelming response to the first B&B ride, clearly bikingshearer is a much more popular ride leader. I suggest you call your therapist immediately. You're psyche will require multiple sessions to recover.

Unfortunately, Julie has to cover a shift that day and I can't wander too far seeing how we're a one car household and I'm the only one with a license.

I'm not trying to not make this ride. I'm not hoping it's not going to rain.
Why did I think this ride is for THIS Sunday?? Anyway, I'm still not trying not to make next Sunday's ride.

Being Danville, one assumes it's safe to leave my old convertible in the park-n-ride lot all day? (it seems bart goes to dublin but not danville, right? (I like driving anyway! Ssshh...don't let the car free forum folks hear me!)

Hey - no guarantee. I had lunch in downtown Danville on Saturday, and only saw one Bentley. Things are rough all over......

It being Danville, about the only thing that might happen to it is some other convertible fan drooling on it. (And the "car free" forum folks will never hear you - they're too busy preaching to the choir. :p)
And you are correct: BART does not go to Danville. Walnut Creek is as close as BART gets, which is not all tht far (5 or 6 miles, give or take).
With the new Park 'n' Ride start/finish, you may have to ride a whole 100 to 150 yards after lunch to get back to your car. You have been warned. :D

We have the choice of eating at Amechi's at the halfway point in Dublin, or eating at the Amechi's near the start/finish point. We can decide that before we take off on Sunday.
We have early voting in my precinct and I vote for lunch at the end of the ride :innocent:

As planned, about 30 miles round-trip with about 1700 feet of climbing all told. If you'd rather not climb that much, hitch your wagon to Lanceoldstrong and family - they are doing a modified version with negligible climbing. Or you can just shoot down the Iron Horse trail all the way to Dublin Blvd, pick up the cue sheet from there and meet up with the main group at Peet's in Dublin.
Lots of ways to skin the kitty, and remember - no drop, so you'll always be riding with someone.

My gang is going to shoot down the Iron Horse trail and meet up with folks at Peets. This "Lite" loop takes a short cut and is 24.5 miles with 1300 feet of climb. Link to Route (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Amechi-s-Loop-Lite)
Here is our plan:
Meet up with the Bossman and the whole gang at the Park and Ride
SHORT CUT: Head down Iron Horse with the wife and kids (a nice slightly down hill warm up)
Meet up with main ride group where Iron Horse hits Dublin Blvd or at Peets Coffee
Ride the rest of way on the BigBossMan's route with the full group
The meet up should be simple BigBossMan and I have each others cell numbers.
Any one that wants to take this short cut option is welcome to join us.
Hint: BigBossMan - your wife and daughter would be very welcome by my wife and daughter ;)

Thanks for the offer Joe, looks like I'm going to miss both rides. Going skiing on Sat and spending the night at the future inlaws in Reno then returning Sun AM for Julie to work at noon. Looks like an afternoon solo ride on Sun for me. I'm glad this is Julie's last weekend shift.
Bump!
Finally, a ride with no chance of weather-related cancellation! :P

Thanks again guys for setting this up. That was fun. More hills than the last Slowpoke ride and that's good. Sorry I couldn't stay for lunch. See you at future Slowpokes!
Btw, the Oldstrong kids and Princess BBM are pretty tough. I couldn't or wouldn't have done a 30 mile ride at their age.
