Sometimes, you gotta mellow out, and just ride for the enjoyment of the ride. If you agree, then you need to do this ride. This is similar to the New BF Jersey ride that I did last year.

Starts at Mountain View Caltrain station, at 9:30 am. 48 miles.

So who's in?

That was my plan as well, or at least a variant of that...

I might ride down to the start, then break-off once we hit Woodside before heading home from there.

Either that or we could make Ron do Kings / OLH with us! :D

Adding hills to a mellow ride? Why not just do Coe or the back side of Hamilton ;)

I'd like to, especially since I've never done Mt. Hamilton, but I've got to be in SF by 5:30 that nite. Ron's route, or a modification therof, will leave me closer to home and a little more wiggle room. :)

Well, OLH is on the original route.

Actually this looks pretty good.

Those in the mood for something with a little more *kick* can change it up pretty easily:
- Add in Moody while the others do Elena.
- Add in Golden Oak
- Add in Tres Hombres of Pain (Los Trancos/Ramona/Vista Verde)

:D:lol:

This one makes me hum "We all live in the yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine."

I am doing a long run on Friday evening (15-miler), and if my quads hold up the next morning, I would love to meet up with you guys somewhere along the route. Maybe Peet's in Los Altos downtown? Or, more ambitiously, Woodside Bakery?

Looks like the forecast is threatening this ride ... even if it does rain at the start, we can always duck in for some brunch at Castro St in Mtn View ... let's hope it doesn't come to that!

This looks like a fun route through the neighborhoods and rolling foothills. When I'm suffering on the way up to Henry Coe I'll probably be wishing I had done it instead :)

Well, if rain is a definite, then just come with us to Mt. View and see how many donuts we can get Ron to eat!!!

Besides, I would destroy all who stand in my sight when it comes to matters of the doughnut.

Nah, I think it would be more fun to see how many dim sum dumplings I can devour.

Hostess used to have that package of four cinnamon, four powered and four regular donuts. It wasn't enough to simply down the eight sugared ones. My friends and I would isolate each one with it's own protective strawberry frosted pop tart layer top and bottom. I'm sick just thinking about it. And I drank whole milk as a kid too.

Ron: I challenge you to a Dumpling contest!!! It would be the West Coast equivalent of the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest. We see how many dumplings we can stuff down in one minute, then we race up OLH. First person to get up without puking wins! :thumb:

Sorry I can't join you in this ride. Looks like fun. I am a single Dad for two weeks again.

Alan,

You guys should totally get a Co-Motion Periscope or something similar. Then you can have your son as stoker and join us on all the rides.

Check out this guy on Hamilton ;)

Hmm, I'm going to try to make this one. Maybe I'll actually be able to get myself out of bed at the ass-crack of dawn if there are people waiting. :P

How's the parking situation at the Mountain View Caltrain?

Sorry, I am going to bail on this one in favor of Henry Coe, since I have not done that one yet.

Maybe I can meet up with you guys near the end. Woodside/Mt View/etc... I'll call Pete and see.

otherwise... Have a good ride!

Well, it a small, but nice turnout. Pete had to bail at the last minute ... but Michael (mellum76) and Alex (x136) did show up. It was a truly mellow ride.

I was running late, but got to the train station on time, a little before 9:30 am. I didn't have breakfast yet, so the first stop ... you guessed it ... Starbucks. 1 mile down the road on Castro St .... a Starbucks. So we didn't actually get going on the actual ride till around 10:15 am.

It was also Alex's first real ride on his new bike with some hills. Sweet!

http://spingineer.smugmug.com/photos/482599080_by8vW-M.jpg

and every time Alex ran over a bump, his bell would ring ... and get a load of that stem

http://spingineer.smugmug.com/photos/482599244_s2BFd-M.jpg

Mellowing out, the focus wasn't so much on getting up the hill, but noticing the surroundings ... damn, we are so spoiled.

Since Pete wasn't there, someone had to do it:

http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/7118/482600928ms8hyl.jpg

The ride was cut short to 32 miles and 2000 feet (for me), but even so, my legs are starting to feel sore. I've barely been on the bike since my accident last year, so maybe that has something to do with it? :P

Good ride, in any case. Thanks for setting it up, Ron.

Alex! SWEET! Bike! Thanks. :) Two things I noticed: 1) It'll go like a well-oiled bat out of hell if you let it. 2) I'm really loving the shifters.
