Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Valve Question on Deep Vs
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I picked up some Deep V's from a craigslist seller yesterday. While I was able to fill the tires, my pump barely made it on the valve. There weren't enough threads on the valve to put the little lock nut on either.
Is this normal? Just wondering...

they make longer valve stems. not sure what size you need for v's. My lbs only has "short" and "long". I've got velocity fusions, so the short is just like your problem but the long looks funny. I typically go with the long though

You need long-stem tubes.

48mm works for me, they make them longer too.

Just Tell your LBS you need a tube, and you have deep V's...unless they're morons, they'll get you the right size
Here's a trick though if you want to use those short stems until they go flat: Get a schraeder (spelling?) adaptor. This assumes you have a pump that does schraeder and presta of course, but the adaptor only cost 50 cents or so and it just screws right onto the valve. In fact, I do recommend this just in case you need a tube ASAP and all they have is regular valve lengths.
Just ask for two tubes with long stems, done.
