Foo - The Italians are onto something.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I got an odd look when I ordered the "large" beer. Apparently it's the equivalent to out pitcher. And no, none of it went to waste. The pizza was phenomenal. If you're wondering what the yellow dot is...
It's an egg, over medium. And it was good.

Relaxing the first night I got there. The owner of the villa insisted that I hang out in the lounge area and have some of their wine.

Wow, that pizza looks really good.

That's a fine looking pizza. Just needs some sausage and another egg.
What kind of beer was that?

The sausage is there, you just can't see it.

I don't recall the name. An Italian dark beer is all I was told.
this is how they do it in thailand:

I got a pizza from a local place once that was (I assumed) trying to do some authentic Italian thing with an egg in the middle....however it was practically raw and sliming all over the pizza.

I couldn't believe it in Brazil... at a fast food place, they were selling giant towers of beer with spigots. Sort of like that Thai thing above.
But that pizza... mmm. Is it lunch time yet?
hmm, I always thought pizza was american-italian in origin.

They stole it from us. Gosh, why are other countries always trying to copy our food?
What part of Italy were you in again?

Yes, the Italians are definitely on to something. I think it's called "living".
Where were you at, crackerjab? I was in Rome from 11 Feb - 14 Feb (saw Brooke Shields at the airport), and then skiing the Dolomites from a little town called Dimaro (big ski resort there is Madonna di Campiglio) from 14 Feb - 20 Feb. Friends ask why I go there to ski. And then I start explaining the food:

PS: I did NOT buy the Budweiser (that good Belgian beer that it may be)

At Margaritaville in Vegas you can get one of these (http://www.margaritavilleretail.com/lasvegas/margaritaville-beer-tower-p-996.html?osCsid=cf32f7d87baca20c9b99e8cde0780121) filled with margaritas.
Next time I'll order one and get sloppy.

The food pic was taken in Venice, but I was up in the Pordenone (Aviano AFB) area for the most part.

They do that at the sports bar near my place. It's the easiest way to get 12 draft beer refills to a table...

I don't get out enough unless I'm out of the country, apparently.

You get a small block of granite that is pulled from a 600F oven. Then you cook your food yourself on the granite slabs. Chicken, beef, pork, liver, pollenta, eggplant, radicchio plus some melted cheese and Bearnaise-type sauce.
And after eating and drinking for 90 minutes or so, you get towed back to the ski runs:

no doubt there's good pickings in rome, but the food is generally pretty average in the dolomites and lombardia.

But the skiing in Rome isn't all that great. And the food at the Dolomite refugios on the ski slopes are big step up from tired hamburgers and hot-dogs they serve at the ski hills near to my home.
