Mountain Biking - Trek 4300 vs Diamond Back Response

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
i have narrowed my choice of a new bike down to these 2 models
which should i get, and what are your reasons for this.
they are both the same price
I don't know anything about the Diamondback, but the Trek 4300 is a good bike. Trek is a pretty reliable company, where I don't think many people respect Diamondback very much anymore.

Diamondback now or a few years ago? Seems to me they aren't as good as a few years back.

Both bikes are decent. I'll vouch for the quality of DiamondBack. Their bikes are as well made as any other in this same price range.
Between the two, it all depends on which one is more comfortable! Test ride them both and decide for yourself.

Jamis, K2, Fuji, Raleigh, Trek, Gary Fisher, Specialized, Haro, KHS, Iron Horse just to name a few. All have bikes in the $300 pricepoint.
Shop around!

I've got the 8600 AKA 2 4300's. They are good bikes for the $. The 04 model (black one) has the same frame that they use clear up through their $500+ bike.

got a trek 4300. tough. reliable. any lbs can fix it IF it does break
I have a Diamonback Topanga(2002) and it has been a very good bike. There are better bikes I know, but for the money I couldn't be happier.
