I have a pair that needs some serious cleaning up. I was wondering if they had any particular value. I might hang on to them for a future project. They are of course heavy steel.

No.

I saw Roccobike's comment below, I couldn't say it better. These wheels have no value, until... you need them to complete a project. I have a stack of wheels I keep around for such uses. I have enough room that it is not a problem. I flip bikes, so you often can pick up a bike with a bent wheel (or missing a wheel) for very little. Who wants a bike that needs wheels? Then you pull a wheel out of "inventory" and you have a finished bike.

Sounds like a plan! They're not valuable at all...........until you need them :D. I had a set of early 26X 1 3/8 rims from a Murray. I kept them for a couple of years. One day I came across a Columbia with brokens spokes. Those old Murray wheels donated the needed parts. If you flip bikes, you might want to keep them if you've got the space.
