I believe I tracked down the "ideal" setup for my pedals according to my search
The whole setup will be $130 free shipping
A. How does the price on these items look / can I find them for less
B. What size toe clip should I get, I wear a size 10 Samba so I'm guessing large
C. Add your opinions on this setup
1. Toshi doubles

I can't speak to the Toshi Doubles, but, factoring in the free shipping, the GR9s & MKS are what I use, and I paid that same amount for them -- seems like a good enough deal.

Just curious, why do you need doubles? I'd assume you're running a brake.

won't be running a brake eventually, I would rather overkill from the start

where are the cleats for this setup?
I don't see how they attach to the pedals.
I use the toshi singles, but I have different MKS pedals and use the special clips for them.... =)

I assume you are referring to the doubles, on that note. I have no Idea

In terms of toe clip size, I wear a size 13, and started with XL, but it felt like it was a little too long with the length of GR-9s, so I went down to a L that I'm pretty happy with.

a not on using doubles with GR9s:
there is only a slot on the bottom of the pedal for one strap, so you'll have to get longer toe clip bolts to keep the strap in place. Which reminds me, i've been running my GR9s with doubles and have yet to have time to go to the store and get new bolts recently.

That was my point. Not sure but I've heard that running doubles with GR9's is a pain in the arse. Good quality singles will suit you just fine.

i dunno about jumping on those toshi's so quickly, thats a lot of money that could go other places.
for comparison, i'm an 11.5 (vans) and the large MKS clips fit me perfectly
I'm looking at getting an actual pedal/clip setup as well and was curious about the size of the MKS steel clips. From sizing charts I've seen I should go with XL's (11.5/12 shoes). Would you guys with bigger feet recommend just going with the L instead?

I wear 12, I rock L. Perfect fit.

I'm assuming these people saying toshi's are overkill have never tried toshi's. They are probably my favorite thing that I've ever upgraded, or the most noticeable at least.
I have this exact same setup except sylvans instead of gr-9s and I really like it. I think my sambas are 11.5 and I run XL. they say large is for 8-10 and xl is for 10 and up, so you're kind of on the border. I'd probably go L if I were you.
anyways, I like mks clips but I'm switching to these shortly...

I ride those All City clips. They are so comfortable. Definitely the best clips I've used.
That's a good price for Toshi doubles.

They usually go for $95-100.
And, are you serious? For a brakeless city rider (Whether the OP is or isnt one, doesn't matter) you definitely don't want to cut corners on your straps.
I guess the 80% if not more, of all fixed gear riders that use Toshi doubles have it all wrong.

are you just starting to ride a fixed gear bicycle? and are you talking about eventually removing your brake?
quick question - there's some toe overlap on my bike, so I'm thinking about getting shorter clips. However I'm a Size 11 shoe. Would getting Size small clips be a bad idea?

MKS GR-9s with Large MKS steel clips and MKS Alpha SPORT Toe Straps. Lasted me 2 full years riding brakeless in NYC and after 2 years of use I sold the entire beat to **** setup on Ebay for $50.00.
Only negative thing I can say about the GR-9s is they are horrible in the rain. HORRIBLE.
Don't worry too much about toe overlap, just get used to it and learn to handle your bike with it.
Good Luck!

double straps work fine with gr9s. you just need to spend $1.35 on slightly longer bolts commonly found at hardward stores.
there are a few threads on this subject.

Sorry if this has already been asked but I wear a size 9.5 shoe(vans authentics) should I go for the medium or large mks clips. I also want to reduce some overlap so should I go medium?
