OK, I know it's not high end, probably not mid-level either, but I'd like to get some opinions as to what this one is worth. With some of the crazy prices on CL, I think its time to take a reality check. What should I sell this for?

It's a 1987 Ross Centaur. The frame is lugged, chromoly steel, but not butted. The paint is in fair condition with some scratches, some touch up paint but no dents. It has Shimano, SIS six speed index, downtube shifters on braze-on shifter mounts. The rear derailer is a Shimano Exage 300 (slight upgrade). The brakes are original, Shimano side pull, alloy, with release, actually kind of nice. The brake levers are upgraded to Shimano Aero levers. The hubs are nothing special both QR, the spokes are galvanized and weathered but not rusty. The rims are Araya 27 inch alloy with hooked bead. The cranks are Shimano with Biopace chainrings. The seat post is alloy and the saddle is a vintage (1980) Avocet. The Bars are alloy sleeve.
All four bearing sets have been re-lubed with Phil Wood grease. The tires, cables and bar tape are all new.

Raleigh NC, where I will sell this, is an average price area. What do you think I should sell it for?

To me, it looks like a $175 bike, as long as you can get buyers to look past the "Ross" name. The condition of the paint is a wild card. Its a pretty attractive bike, that is a definite plus!

My basic target price for a racing bike with lugged cromoly frame, alloy crank and alloy rims, with quick release, is $175. I go up or down from there depending on paint, better components, name brand of frame and bike, and so on. The market in my area seems to respond well to prices under $200.

I am going to be testing the over $200 price point in the next few weeks, as I clear out some of my better bikes.

Hi, Do you by chance still have that Ross and what size is it if you do? I have been looking for a Ross Signature of that era, but that might do if you still have it and it's the right size. Thanks

Sorry, I no longer own the Ross.
