many of us would like to stiffen up our everyday riding shoes so we have better power transfer, comfort, etc...while maintaining some functionality (and yeah, fashion) of whatever shoe we choose to ride in....
is there a plastic insole or insert that goes the entire length of the shoe?
i wouldn't really care if it made my foot totally stiff, but i'd be able to do it to any shoe, not just cycling shoes.
most support inserts i've seen only go from heel to arch, which, if you imagine your foot on a pedal, doesn't do too much for the power transfer since most of the legs power is transferred to the pedal via the front half of the foot, not the rear.
i've been toying with the idea of buying moldable plastic called "shapelock" to form to the insole of whatever shoe i want, but it seems like there's got to be an easier way. this is something i imagine a lot of people think about.
