what is that? a rear light or reflector of some sort? I want one of those, looks like a great thing to use to fill an unused derailleur hanger.

Man, that's OLD! I'm guessing it ran from a generator, maybe a battery. 30s? Way before my time!

I've just got one like that - sold as 1930's rear dynamo light. Same fitting but the bracket's missing on mine - only a metal "P" clip though, right? Still, it was cheap and fits in with the 1935 build I'm slowly working on!

It's a dynamo rear lamp.

I'm going to gut it and fit a heatsink and high power LED running from a lithium Ion battery, it should be brighter than a Dinotte !!

Have you tried having it Carbon-Dated?

It looks funky. I'd polish it up - it looks like brass. Maybe a Genie will pop-out.

Definitely older than the dynamo tail lamp from my dad's '40s vintage Raleigh Tourister (the Bobby's bike).

It's the taillight from the Campagnolo 50th Anniversary Cobalto gruppo. Only two of them were made. Check under the mounting clamp for a date code.

I like the Campy theory, except I think it's from the 1948 little known Mondo Touristo gruppo, intendede to challenge the French dominance of the Randonisti market.

Looks A LOT like my early 1900's cabide lamp! check out the copper/brass case on both, and the crystals, almost the same if you ask me, 'cept for the fact that my lamp is carbide powered I would have thought them to be a set! (yes, it has the glass lens on the front, just cant see it in the pics)

No sign of a date code or "Campagnolo" (tm)

The bulb is 12V, I suspect it might have originally been powered by a lead acid battery.

On closer inspection the light might not be at all suitable for LED conversion.

I've found a more suitable housing for a LED rear lamp, so rather than desecrate a piece of cycling history I'm going to go with that.

As some of the people on this thread seem to like the rear light, I wondered if it would be ok to offer it to them ?

Any advice on that ?
