I'm trying to restore a '76/'77 Shogun 12sp road bike.
About 10 yrs ago, the 27 inch rear rim needed replacement and the choice was a Sun M13II in satin finish.
Problem there is it didn't match the chrome Araya in the front. Now I'd like to correct that.
The rear drop out measures 115mm w/ the wheel removed. With the wheel in it spreads to 120mm. It's always been this way, since new it's always been a bear to pull the rear wheel.
I see the M13II is still available in 27 inch, and so are the gumwall-looking panaracer tires in 27 1-8th so while I can probably fit a 700 rim on because the DiaCompe brakes will adjust, I'd rather keep it as original as possible.
The rear hub is oriinal and unknown, the freewheel I believe is Shimano, and I think it screws on (it's been replaced and is still smooth). The cluster is also Shimano, 6sp. Deraileur is Shimano 600.
Thanks in advance for your help. I love this old bike, it's red with pinstriping on the frame and was quite a looker in her day. I hope to bring those days back. Any suggestions, leads, opinions are truly appreciated.
