Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - FSA Carbon Pro Popping Noises

I've been noticing some popping coming from the ISIS drive on my cranks. Mainly, while trackstanding and accelerating from a stop (any time I'm applying a good amount of force to the pedals). Does anyone else have the same issues with the FSA Carbon Pro Track cranks? I know they are on nice and tight, so I'm wondering if this is just one of the many issues I can expect with an ISIS drive crank?

my '06 fsa's are still going strong.

I had a popping sound on mine when i first put them on, but i noticed mine were flawed because of the chainring. It was every so slightly bent. If yours is spinning straight, then it *might* be the bb. Are you using a new bb as well?

I replaced mine with a new carbon crankset from FSA, and I replaced the bb with a new one as well and it's been great ever since. No problems

The chainring is straight. The crankset is on a '07 Rush Hour Pro, as is the bb. Came stock on the bike. I haven't pulled the cranks off since this started, so I'm not too sure. The popping feels like it's coming from the crank, not the chainring. I think I'll just have to take it down and tear into it, see what's up. I'm just wondering if this is common.

No, the interface that FSA uses strips. The spider and right arm are not the same piece (obviously, one is alu and one carbon), and the mechanism they use to hold it together, a spline and locking, slips. It is not the same as the ISIS spline, which is fine.

I just sent back a set, Just installed them an the pedal insert on the left side crank arm wasn't true, So my pedal was floating. Very annoying to say the least. The bike shop took them back an gave me a full refund. They look beautiful but I'll stick with my Sugino 75's My buddy's FSA's are making noise an he's so bummed after reading this. We'll try my BB to see if it helps, but like Mr. Peabody said it's probably internal.

Make sure you tighten your pedals for one. Tighten your cranks with a torque wrench just to be safe.

my 08s are the same way. blew out a cheap isis bb and replaced it with the 09 quad pro track, inspected everything and no issues.

we just replaced my buddys fsa track bb with mine an the popping is gone. he's happy it's not the crankarms.... but now the question is, will fsa take his bb back

i had to rma a pro track bb thru fsa several months ago... it arrived with a bent/eccentric axle. check yours.

If you can't tell, no more FSA for me.

I've heard of people "fixing" the problem with JB Weld. Though, no details as to where exactly they put the JB Weld.

Well I rode it again today and noticed a regular ticking sound, however it was not every revolution - more like every 3rd or so. Which makes me think it's chain related. Hard to tell where it's coming from...

If you can take the spline apart (the lockring needs some flat spanners, and you may or may not be able to generate enough torque) you can j-b weld the guts tight, apparently. Allegedly all FSA does is epoxy them.
