i have an old U-brake that i want to continue using, it works okay but the action is a little rough. the bike hadnt been used in about 20 years so was seiezed at first, but i have brought it back to life.
the springs are rusty which is causeing the slightly rough action. ive been religeously spraying the moving parts/springs with GT85 after every ride and it has massivly improved.
i would however like to continue improving the springs. can i soak or applying some kind of treatment to improves thier rustyness?
also, the clamp that connects the lever cable to the brake cable, moves around a bit. is there a trick to making sure the clamp is centred along the brake cable, or is it an inherant problem with the design?
