Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

well at least in the wallet :roflmao2: but the N+1 bug bit and i have finally finished my new LD rig. the only thing now for it is lighting. my goal originally was to build a bike for under 800 and i failed miserably. i got the bike used for 500. of course it requires upgrades. it had a double to i changed it to a triple. then the while your there happened. new derailleurs, terry fly seat, rack and pannier, fenders, then while i was at the bike shop i pulled the trigger on having a custom set of wheels built for the fuji. unrelated but relevant on the wallet weight loss. a tent i can carry on the bike showed up the other day. so the list goes on but the bike is finally rideable and can carry all the necessary things. this was also supposed to be the bike that i didnt care if it got scratched from say those animals that handle your bike at charity rides during transportation. but it looks nice and i have already caught myself protecting as if it was carbon fiber like the fuji. now onward for the many miles it will take me to fine tune the fit to my liking.

Nice looking build. Let us know how it rides.
I'm working on an under $800 build as well. So far, I have a frame/fork ($310 shipped), a set of wheels with tires and tubes (spares, no charge), a groupset (8sp Campy Mirage off another bike), and a seat post. I'm needing stem, bars, new cables/housing, BB, headset, bartape, and water bottle cages. I think that's it. The BB and headset will be the priciest thing. I'm getting quality parts and I'm expecting around $250 installed (that'll go $560 before the other parts I need).

Looks great. If you are going to spend your money on something, it might as well be a bike. It will pay you back in time.

yea a bike is so much better than the beer i would have ended up drinking instead. the larger spare tire just isnt worth the investment.

That is one fine looking steed indeed. Nice work. I'm jealous. Enjoy it.
