Howdy folks, just thought I'd introduce myself since I'm bored off my arse at work. I'm a 20 year old (21 in 3 weeks, hot damn) student at UT. I haven't owned a car since I moved here 3 years ago, just the old Schwinn Le Tour I picked up about that time, so I've been biking everywhere. Been relying on the local bike shops for any and all problems so far, never really learning a damn thing about my beloved bike. Figured it's about time I learned to maintain (and hopefully upgrade!) my ride on my own, so I've started buying all the necessary tools and reading up online. I also recently acquired a free road frame from a friend which I'm going to spend the summer turning into a fixie. I hope all the questions I ask as I go through the process don't become too annoying.

Welcome from a 21 y/o student at Baylor who's gonna be 22 in a bit more than a month. This is a good place to learn about bicycle maintenance... some of th LeTours were pretty nice bikes too so keep up on the maintenance and it will last you forever.
