Road Cycling - Ebay and Jerseys?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So anyhow... bought my first jersey at my LBS for a wooping $70. Now, I admit I love it and all, and I really want a couple more but being a college student with a limited income I was curious if buying jerseys through an e-bay seller would be a good alternative or if I am just going to waiste my 40 bucks by getting a lesser quality item? If you have any exp. or advice I would love to hear it. Thanks a bunch, Dennis

I have purchased 2 jerseys online and the quality was excellent. Plus saved some serious cash on them both. I try to stick with brand named stuff.
I guess thats another question also... e-bay > Online Store OR Online Store > E-bay?
All of my cycling clothing, except 2 pr of shorts, has been purchased off of eBay. No problems. No regrets.

I have purchased all of my jerseys and bibs on ebay (NEW).
The exact same bibs and jerseys I see at the lbs for apx $50-$60 more.
If you find what you are looking for on ebay grab it, you cant go wrong if you know the size is right and its what you are looking for.

And that last word is key. I can't bring myself to buy used cycling clothing (online or otherwise)... especially lowers.

Performance's prices are good and you can get good stuff from one of their many specials. However, I would not recommend on-line ordering from them as they seem to think that delivering my last two packages to someone with the same last name or living the next town over constitutes satisfactory service.

I ahve gotten all of my jersey's through ebay I pay no more then 15.00 with shipping. nothing fancy really but they work well. except for the cool looks I can't see spending so much money on one.

Check out www.probikekit.com. Their prices are pretty good and their range is quite large.
Postage is a bit but if your ordering a couple of things at once it would be ok.
I usually just save my nickles and buy during the off season. I've found some good deals at LBS while visiting my parents, but I usually just prowl Nashbar/Performance/Jenson, et al and wait for great markdowns coupled with 10 or 20% discounts.

The size thing is what scares me away from ebay on jerseys. There are the euro jerseys that run really small, and the American ones that are cut bigger. It's very hard for me to know if I should get a medium or a large. People like Performance & Jensen make it easy be giving you a chest size for each jersey.

Used clothing may not be for everyone but I have purchased several used "vintage" jerseys from ebay and have been very pleased. All were high quality and in excellent condition, most are european club jerseys with local adds. I especially appreciate the uniqueness of the jerseys as I don't care to resemble every other cyclist on the road. While I agree with your opinion of used shorts (I have no desire to purchase used shorts), I am confident that the Maytag is capable of rendering a jersey perfectly acceptable to wear.
As a bonus I have not payed more than $20 (including shipping) for any of my vintage jerseys.
Give www.velowear.com a try. (Excellent productsat great prices).
Wow, thanks a bunch for all the advice, should help me save my pennys for the upcomming raise in tuition (Gawd awfull tax payers!!!)
