Classic & Vintage - NJS parts?

I've been reading a bunch about keirin racing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keirin) in Japan in the last couple weeks, and apparently the parts allowed in keirin racing are very strictly regulated. Just out of curiosity, I checked eBay, and the parts are suuuuper expensive! I guess I won't be building a keirin bike.

Does anyone have any NJS bikes/parts they can post pictures of? :)

about the one njs part I have, and have no use for other than the thread topic. As you can see, they are quite the ambassadors of their sport, wisely pointing out that I was unaware of a trend that I was unaware of.

Keirin racing is a very profitable business in Japan, and the intent of the NJS standards is to make the bicycles more or less consistent so that the races are more a test of the riders than the bicycles. It is not designation of high quality or technological prowess; just a recognition that the defined standard has been met.

That said, the NJS designation has become quite fashionable amongst the hipster crowd, driving the prices up, even though only a vanishingly small number of NJS equipped hipsters will ever participate in a keirin race.

N.B. Frame builder Dave Porter is behind an effort to bring professional keirin racing to New Mexico (http://www.abqkeirin.com/).

Neat! Good thread, but the replies make me want to feed those kids bleach.

I got a little laugh out of the strap thing, but a lot of the posters in SSFG are severely mentally handicapped
