Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. No details as It has only just happened. But I now have a riding mate who won't argue back on the distance I do - or don't do- on a sunday. Its a girl and is my first Grand child.
Already have the first bike sorted- in fact its already in the shed. Just have to wait for her to be able to reach the pedals as standover height may be a bit big right now.
Now off to tell the neighbours- so Might not be riding tomorrow as I am taking the 25 yr old Cognac with me.

My prediction is that she'll have him wrapped about her little finger within the first fifteen seconds of him first holding her. It'll take her that long to decide if he is worthy of her. Congratulations Grandfather.

Woo hoo Gramps! I love calling you that, as it seemed I aged 10 years when my boys officially got to call me Grandma.
You get to take them for a ride, feed them sugar and then send them home. :D
Time to start shopping for a trailer.

Belated Congratulations. We just got back from a snowboard week-end where our function was to take care of our 4 month old grandson so his mom could snowboard for the first time this season. I got a chance to log more of my "million kisses" before his 2nd birthday. Best wishes to everyone.

Is this the first grandchild?
Once you find out how much fun they can be you'll wonder why you didn't have the grandkids first.
Uh - isn't this one of those threads that requires a photo?

Sorry about the delay in replying to you all but Born Saturday night- Quick ride yesterday and then waiting for the call to get the pair of them out of Hospital. Got round there at 3pm and didn't bother leaving. Then work today.
I am going to be called "Grumps"- to go with my persona.
And I haven't held her yet. Too many people round yesterday to push my way through.

I have 4 now, nothing like it, enjoy Step, they grow too fast. Great times presenting them with bicycle for birthdays, or just when they outgrow the old ones.:thumb:

OK all the details I know- Her name is "Ferne"- Weight 8lbs 15Ozs- Labour started on thursdy for a home berth- but on Saturday the Midwife said it was time for hospital- Born at 7.10 in the evening and Mother and baby home about 2.30pm sunday. And the hair colour is a Red tint to the brown- but not the Ginger that does run in my wifes family.

Oh, granddad, you have a lot to learn:lol:
I bet she is now, and will be for a long time, completely in charge of every aspect of your kids life, and will be yours when you are blessed enough to get to watch her. :thumb:
Enjoy every moment, I got one 8 months ago and every week brings new fun. I get the thrill of watching mine every other Monday, the only day my daughter and her husband (a bicycle guy!) could not cover with their fairly flexible work schedules.
Forgive the overindulgence; new grandpas are allowed.
Here is how I spent my first full day on the job.
First thing, dress Violet. I picked a cute blue sweatshirt and a little bear hat. Silly girl, she can't find her hands

Next, we walk along West Cliff, my kids house is a couple blocks from there...Sweet.
http://rad.smugmug.com/photos/388783008_PkFA7-M.jpg
We then spend all day watching my son in laws 52" HD TV, sports of course

She thinks I'm funny
http://rad.smugmug.com/photos/388783200_UfSZx-M.jpg
Then the TV wears her out so she sleeps and we wait for mommy

6pm gets here and I'm beat
Only 2 more weeks and the kid is mine for anther day

Oh, congratulations Stapfam!
Lately I've been understanding more why people long for grandchildren 'cause I miss my little girl--at 24 she is special, but she doesn't want to go exploring indian caves anymore!
