Training & Nutrition - 2009 Race season Goals

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What are your 2009 Race season Goals?
What are you doing to reach your goals? Same thing as last year or something new?

Same as last year: survive and not get lapped. Sometimes low expectations are entirely reasonable.
#1 goal was to upgrade to the 3s (ok, not a very high goal, I admit). . With a victory over the weekend I have enough points to upgrade, so now I need a new goal.
Hmm, this thread seems familiar. Oh yeah, it was done (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=488430&highlight=2009) in the road racing forum...
To upgrade to cat 3 early in the season, actually try to be competitive, and to finish in the top half at Everest Challenge as a 3. I'd also like to try to hit a FTP of 5 W/kg...
Looks like being competitive in 3s is my next goal. I will have to gain 20W FTP or lose 4kg for my other goal...

There are other forms of racing ya know. ;)

I know, I didn't mean it is a "you shouldn't have done this thread" admonishment. More of a realization as I was writing that I had already thought up some goals, so I went and found the thread...

To start racing this season, if that counts.

That is if I have the cajones to actually try racing out. I may just need to stop talking about it, get my license, and register for a race.

Keep up with cat3s on the weekend hill climb. That's a REALLY tough task for me - right now, I can barely hang with good 4s on the weekend climbs, but that's not so bad I guess considering I'm still a relative noob on the bike.

Good 4s will usually climb faster than the slower 3s.
