Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi everyone,
I'm going to be participating in the Conquer Cancer ride from Vancouver BC to Seattle WA (http://www.conquercancer.ca). The ride is to raise money and awareness for cancer research. My personal goal is to raise $3200 (or more) and currently, I'm looking for donations. To date, I've raised $1540 so I'm about half-way there...I'm turning to my favorite bike forum to ask for help reaching my goal. Would you like to donate or know of someone who would? Doesn't have to be a lot, every little bit helps!
My pledge page can be found here:

If you're doing the ride as well, let me know...especially if you are in the CRD area, perhaps we can get out for some training rides. Thanks to all those who have already show a massive amount of support!
Sincerely,
Adrian

I am about to sign up for the Alberta ride, I was a bit hesitant about raising that much, till I approached the boss, now i am going to get some custom jerseys made up with the Company logo for which the company will pay, my branch is kicking in minimum $500, if the other branches do $200, I'm set! the company likes it, free advertising, and they get a useful tax deduction. Who do you work for?
I'm trying to see if i can get decent artwork from the ride organizers to incorporate on the jersey, that way when doing my training rides, I can fish for more donations.

that's a good idea. I was considering approaching my old work place to see if they would do something similar. Pretty certain my current employer wouldn't do it.
How are you doing the custom jerseys? The places I looked at required a minimum order...though I considered just asking a custom t-shirt place to do a one off.
I was a little hesitant asking because of the way the economy is and I know that the business has slowed considerably.

the Money will come in easier than you think. I raised over 2K in a month. I am nearly at the minimum with lots of time left till the ride. Just hit up everyone you know for donations small amounts add up quick. How about instead or including the jersey is to ask your company to match whatever you donate. So if you raise half your goal you are set?

I'm getting the jersey(s) through Voler, semi custom. Not cheap, but not outrageous either, you can combine with some t-shirts etc with the same artwork to bring the unit cost down, so if the company goes for it, several employees can be getting the name out too. Do remember, the company gets a tax deduction, and it associates their name with a good cause. You can carry on wearing the jersey after the event as well.

sure thing coldfeet!
I live in Signal Hill which is close to Hwy 8. :)
I've signed up for the Alberta ride as well, nothing better than cycling for a great cause!
@coldfeet and Soupless: I live off Hwy 8 about 1/2 way between Signal Hill and Hwy 22, so if you want another member for some training rides I'd be in for sure! PM me if ya want!
