First timer on SS/FG, the guy said US$350 with no pedals, saddle or handlebar (previously called "handpost" LOL). Is the rear hub a flip-flop? I'm afraid if I don't like the whole FG thing at least I can cruise on style. ;)

Please let me know if I should pursuit this bike, perfect size for me.

$350 without all of those things isn't a great deal. I got a new in box '08 Pista on ebay for $470 shipped. Your LBS can probably hook you up with a brand new, assembled '08 for $500.

Yes, the rear hub is a flip-flop.

What would be a good price for this bike?

Thank you for your reply, txelen.

if you rock a 55 here is one on ebay. even with the shipping is is a little cheaper than i paid for the same bike. i paid $600 for the same bike, this will come to $570. but it is brand new and complete. so you know you are not buying someone else's problems. so if you buy the craigs list bike. you will drop at least $50 into crap components just to be able to ride it. and more if you buy better components. the stock saddle isn't to bad, i really only bought a new saddle right away because my girlfriend kept telling me to buy a brooks. and you will need to buy some clips and straps, or just buy some new peddles (the rout i went, seeing as the stock ones are plastic). but if you want to upgrade anyway, and the bike is in good shape, why not. you at least get to see it first and have it in your hands right then and there. so to sum it up, not a good price, but fairish.

edit: just pay the $400 and get the bars, saddle and pedals. i guess i should have read the craigs list ad first.

If you have pedals, a seat and some handlebars at your house, I would say do it. It looks like it's in pretty good shape. If you don't have any of that stuff, you'll probably spend $40 for pedals, $40 for a seat, and $30 for some handlebars, so just look at the bike as ~$450.

Is it just me or does the CL ad say $400 for the complete thing? I don't see anywhere where it says that it doesn't come with a saddle or pedals or "hand post" (whatever that is).

^ after i posted i actually clicked on the link. it does say $400 for the bike, and nothing about the saddle, pedals or hand post, i took that a bars. i am guessing the OP tried to cut a deal, and the price went down $50 if the seller kept said parts. either way, $400 aint bad, I'd pick it up

You got it, that's exactly how the price went down 50 bucks.

So why not get the whole thing? you could sell the bars/pedals/saddle if you don't need them.
