Is riding your bike in rain bad? does water effect the bike?

1)it could be bad for your bike in terms of mud and grit causing premature ware on essential parts...this can be fixed by simply keeping your bike clean and well lubricated

2)it could be bad for the trails if you live in a place where trail erosion is a problem...during and directly after sensetive trails are most vuneralble to erosion

I don't think the rain is to blame, it's just bad to ride you're bike....

Light rain = good.

During or after a light rain, trails are VERY nice to ride on. It keeps the dust down and allows the tires to sink just enough to get excellent grip.

When wet, rim brakes dont work as efficiently, they build up a slurry, and seem to disappear in no time.
I've blown through a pair of brake pads in 4 days of wet weather.
disc's on the other hand, solve this problem.
