Framebuilders - 'Hidden' threaded headset/quill stem custom steel frame?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Several years ago I remember seeing a picture of an awesome custom frame where the headset and stem was 'hidden' in the intersection of the headtube and steerer tube instead of projecting up from the intersection (the forward projection of the stem was aligned with the top tube if my memory serves me correctly). It was a 1" quill stem on a steel frame. I know some new fangled TT bikes incorporate this technology but I'm interested in seeing how it was done with a steel frame and threaded headset. After endlessly searching on Google for the picture (both web search and image search) I've come up empty handed. I figure this is probably the forum to ask in. Can anyone provide me with a link or name of the builder that has designed this (or something similar)?

Don't know where to point you to offhand, but I've seen that configuration a lot on those early 90's funny bikes. There was even a thread in the SS/FG forum that show a bunch of those, including the extra freaky no-stem bikes that had the bars mounted to the fork crown.

there is a bike like that at NAHBS. Couldn't really tell how it was done.

tt held on by a gusset. You can do anything if you don't care about the weight

Yikes! What's with that bike?
Doesn't look like a TT bike, especially with downtube shifters.
And what's with the probe on the front? Get out of this guy's way or you're gonna take it in the....well, you know.:twitchy: (nice that they have an emoticon for the look you'd have if you braked too quickly in front of that bike!)
