So I always said I would never fix anything again. I worked as a mechanic for years and stopped as I hated the hassels of working on other peoples problems and said I'd never do any of my own work, truck , car, bike anything. Well it looks more and more like my next bike will come from a shop about 45 minutes away so I thought I'd better take things into my own hands. I thought I had broken a cassette but turns out the retaining ring was loose. So I bought a cassette tool and chain whip, also some replacement pads for my front brakes. So I took off the cassette, cleaned it, installed pads and loved it! Guess I'll be buying some tools in the future. Next up wioll be a cable puller I'm always fraying those darn cables.

I know the feeling my problem is every hobby I get I turned into a business !! I promissed not to do that with bikes and take everything to the LBS unless it is a flat or very simple . So Iam like you thou I may have to do some work myself :) If my wife don't find out lol .....

Well done! I think fixing and building bikes is half the fun and spend too much time doing it.

Soldering is th best solution (before the damage is done), but try putting some superglue. Keeps the wire from fraying.
