Our rainy Sunday took a rare twist today for central Georgia. We are getting a little bit of accumulation, but it is about 40 degrees and has been raining all day, so there is no way to enjoy playing in the slushy mess.
I just hope it melts away before the overnight temperature drops below freezing. I hate it when the power goes out.

I'm not sure what it is, but we had a bunch of it yesterday in northwest AR. When I awakened this morning, the temperature at the airport, about a mile or two from my place, was 16 F with a windchill of 1. I think it must be some sort of heinous plot hatched by TomBomb and sent our way. I think they have plenty enough of this stuff up there to spare some without missing any of it

I read that New York City is expecting 12"-14" by Monday morning. That is going to be a mess.

It is cold here today, had a high of 18 with a brisk wind bring the windchill down to just 5 degrees in the mid-afternoon. Below zero wind chills tonight. But no snow and with a warmup headed our way. Temps predicted to climb to 40 by Wed and into the mid-40s on Thur/Fri/Sat. Hope that isn't fools gold.

I see that nasty little places like Charlottesville, VA are getting some snow and cold weather too.

I went to a rodeo last night and just about froze to death. The wind was blowing 30mph and it was 45 degrees. Down here that's cold. I haven't seen that white stuff in a while though.

Me neither. I've seen black mold and red mold since arriving in Little Rock, so I assume it is some kind of quick-forming white mold. It is apparently distributed by the wind.

My day started in Boone this morning and it was snowing like crazy and we had a little trouble getting away.

In Charlotte it sounds like we could get 4"-8". What a nasty, nasty weekend we had.

Fortunately they're calling for low 70's next Saturday.

It's heading to Raleigh too. We're supposed to get 2" to 4" of whatever that white junk is. Storm screwed up my entire riding weekend.

Nothing depresses me like a winter with little snow. Bring it on!
(looking forward to a good ride to work in the snow)

My strategy worked! The new tractor came with a 49" 2-stage snow blower, so of course I only got a dusting. Low tonight is predicted to be 4F. At that point, the plus or minus sign really doesn't matter.

As long as it's white it's fine. If it has turned yellow, don't eat it.

They're expecting 10-12" by tomorrow here in NYC. I get to go to work in any case, even if I have to x-country ski there. My subway line is open to the elements but below ground level in an open cut. It is usually the first service to get canceled.

By this time of year, if it is white and falling from the, I just assume the sky is filled with well fed gulls because the alternative explanation is less pleasant.

As I type this, it is starting to snow. We are expecting 8-12 inches.
First the Patriots traded Cassel and Vrabel, and now this! UGH!!!

Rumour has it that they had to call off a global warming protest in D.C. today because of snow and cold.

Don't know if its true but it would be pretty funny if it were.

Very little trace left today of yesterday's snow, but that was enough for them to close the schools in our county.

Just finished the first round of snowblowing. About 10 inches so far, with the promise of more, followed by cold and winds up to 25 mph.
I want my global warming.

Hey BluesDawg. Is that all you got? ;) Here's a shot out my front door about 2 hours after it started.

It snowed for about 8 hours. With all the bright sun we've had today and the temps in the high 30s most of it is melted.

Well, at 6pm, the 6am report had doubled to about 12". I'm less disappointed now............and tired from shoveling out the cars so I can go to work tomorrow.

About 14" here today. Who knows how long it'll be here. I'm going to knock the rust off the trainer and see if I can put in 20-30 minutes.

HI,
Being from the south how do you thaw a car door when its frozen shut with ice.:twitchy:..

That's easy. Hair dryer. The water will freeze the door seal to the frame, so you have to go all the way around the door. OTOH, that's why garages were invented. If the lock freezes, I usually just hold my thumb on it for 60 seconds. That works down to about zero. Below that, I use a Bic lighter on the end of the key and let the warm key do the job. Then spray some WD-40 in it to push the water elsewhere.
