Anybody want to venture a guess as to what this bike might be worth? Pretty much stock with a few goodies. B/A shifters, Matthauser pads, front and rear Blackburns, Brooks saddle and some other stuff. Any info would be helpful, I'm debating whether or not to sell this bike, Thanks, Sean

Touring bikes can bring easily double what a road bike from the same era brings. For some reason, probably quality and steel, the Expedition, Upper "20" Treks, and some Miyata's (1000, 210, etc) are just the ticket. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Watch ebay and search craigslist for a while (yeah, unfortunately, Specialized has revived the name and slapped it on an uninspiring hybrid model). The market may be a little soft right now, but you have one of the most sought after mass produced touring bikes manufactured. Figure anywhere from $600-$1000, depending on condition, your salesmanship, and the motivation of those competing to buy it.

Thanks for replies, I haven't had time to clean it up yet. I'm sorry to say that I haven't ridden it in at least 5 years. So I'll clean and tune then get some pics posted.Maybe I'll just hang on to it and see if the spark starts a fire again.

There is a YAHOO group devoted to these and Miyata 1000/610s called:

MiyataSpecTour · Miyata 1000/Specialized Expedition Bikes

Good people just like here. They will answer any questions. They consider (and I am not qualified to disagree) that these were some of the finest touring bikes EVER mass produced.

Devoted is a good word. They've long ago decided that those bikes are the ticket; I've no reason to doubt them.
They really, really like those bikes, and since the subject is so narrow, they know everything about the bikes.
I subscribe just to read how knowledgeable they are. I wish I knew Centurions like they know the 1000/Expedition.

Pretty late to the show here, but was just wondering. How do you know it's an 84?
