Yes. I have friends who walk their cat on a leash just like a dog. He is a very outgoing cat and they have been doing it since he was a kitten.

I had a Siamese once who walked on a leash. I've heard that they are the easiest to leash-train.

Not with a leash, no. But teh kitteh will follow us around in the backyard and front yard when we tell him to come with us. He won't go in the street though, as he is a scaredy-cat.
Yes, my parents cat was leash trained. The current feline is not. I've only had her 2 months and am toilet training her first. Once she's using the toilet then I'll work on the leash thing.

You need to shave it first.
you can even potty train them to do it in the toilet bowl.

Yeah, and then the cat slipped the harness and ran off to never be seen again. :(

Both the dog and the cat can walk on their own.
Why would they need my assistance?

Walk, not so much. Drag? Yes, kind of... actually I've met quite a few cats who are content to lead their humans about on leashes. Mine, however, didn't really see the point.
Miss Molasses adopted an attitude of civil disobedience. Pickles decided on a Houdini tactic and whipped out of the harness seconds after I turned my back - how, I have no idea. Luckily, we also have a Border Collie who is, as it turns out, capable of herding cats.
What can't a Border Collie do?
Since moving ito an apartment 6 months ago my kids havebeen taking our 9yo cat for walks to the local park.
He seems to have adapted quite well.

These guys?
I had one. She also liked to crawl up onto the dash of the first minivan we had (Chevy Lumina APV, so tons of room). Rather interesting to see the expressions of the carhops at Sonic when she moved.
The current cat refuses to go outside, period.

Yeah. And look what happened to them.

I met a guy walking a cat once, last year. The cat was on a leash.
The guy was something like 6'5" and wide as a barn door, so the tiny little cat on a leash provided a comical contrast...
I didn't realise it was a cat until I was maybe 30 ft away. From a distance, it looked like one of those hairy, pig-nosed little dogs.

Outstanding!!
We had a cat that we could walk on a leash just fine. No training, either. We just tried it one day and she complied.
The other cat we could drag on a leash.
Turtle... haven't tried yet but I have seen it done, surely.

super glue the cat's feet to a skateboard. Then you can drag it around on a leash all you want.

Both of mine will fetch, but it's more a matter of them training ME to throw on demand :)
Pickles' latest thing is to sit about 6 feet from me and wait for me to lob a toy at him. Then he leaps up and bats it back to me. He'll keep that up for fifteen minutes!

Teh kitteh likes fetching golf balls. He will sit on the little putting machine thingy and stare at us until we putt, and then he goes and bats the ball along the return channel until he gets it back to us. He won't fetch with anything else though.
I've been walking my cats for years. It started when the pair I had in New Mexico in the early 80s used to come along on walks with the dog; I no longer have the dog but the last five cats I've had since about 1987 go on walks around the block with me, on frequencies ranging from regularly to occassionally. I don't use a leash, they just come along.

I train easily, just ask the dog. :)

My sister's godmother had a strange cat when she lived in Dublin. Her husband was a very senior professor, but the cat - Thomas - decided that he was not 'street wise' enough and used to walk with him to the train station each day. The cat would sit beside the Prof on the platform and wait until he was safely on the train before walking home. The railway staff all knew the cat and would say hello.
Not sure if the cat would collect in the evening though...
