A friend of a friend was supposedly involved in this or a similar episode with Cipo on Brasstown Bald. The story is the as Cipo passed him he ran alongside yelling "Go, Go" and Cipo said, "No, PUSH, PUSH!"

RIP Joe Strummer

After watching the tape of the TdG for the umpteenth time, I'm currently working on a theory that the Stage 2 sprint victory was ... ahhhmm ... "handed" to Cipo. The stage runner ups were certainly pushing, but not as hard one would expect. There was something about it that made me feel like it was staged.

Which is not to say that he's not a great athlete.

Just a theory.

Didn't Dominguez say he could have won, but misjudged the finish line, i.e. thought it was a different line.

I love that while Lance communicated with fans in the TT, with the competitive cry of "Where's Voigt? Where's Voigt?", Cipo begged for pushes on the last stage.

I love it. Who'd have expected such humility from the Lion King? Just one more thing that keeps him close to my heart. So charming.

Yeesh. I'm such a girl. ;)

I thought Cippo was very gracious in his first visit to the U.S. To me it showed a tremendous amount of class.

Anyone here who has never been up the road up Brasstown Bald on a bike cannot possible understand the value of getting a push.

The road is so steep that most cyclists and myself included weave side to side across the lanes to keep going in places.

I'll be up there tomorrow riding over three of the gaps in the TDG but I'm not in condition yet this year to do BB with any pleasure.

Apparently Cipo isd going to devote his first stage win to Pantani. He promised Pantani's parents. SOB!

The last guy that called Mario an SOB got punched. ;)

"You call my mother a *****?" Reason number 327 to love him: Defending his mama.

I guess he's already assuming that he can get around Petacchi, and the rest! How about surviving the entire Giro this year - and dedicating each climb to Pantani along the way? I guess there would be NOo dedication that way! :)
