Hello,
I am looking for information on some Campagnolo low flange hubs. The rear has an after market axle, but the cone nut on the front is stamped 1961. The hub shell is steel, the flanges being aluminum. I've seen similar wheels built up, with a 2-3sp freewheel on one side, and a fixed cog on the other. Campagnolo stamp on hub.
Any info on this hubset? Help is appreciated.

looks like a Gran Sport flip flop hub.
Kind of difficult to see from the photos, any chance of a better picture
of the rear hub?

I agree.

Riders would ride fixed, then flip the wheel to a freewheel for going down hills. Typically used for training.

But from the 1" cog, I'd guess those wheels were used on a track bike.

Center is steel and the outsides aluminum? I would put a bet to it that they are re-badged, Fratelli Brivios. The treatment at the end of the hubs looks it.

They may have been made by FB, or based on their design, but those are the typical Campagnolo Gran Sport 3-piece hubs of the 50s. Came in high and low...

I'd say Gran Sport as well. The hubs on my latest acquisition (1953 Claud Butler) look the same but mine's got fixed on both sides. I think one side should have a freewheel but instead it's got two BB lock rings as spacers between the spoke flange and the cog and no lock ring on the outside (on that side of the hub). The other side is standard fixed wheel thread, sprocket and lock ring. However they used to sell a similar model with gears - and a fixed cog on the left side as well. Hope this helps in some way.
