Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. If youv'e been sidelined for the time by injury or illness, here's your chance for a rant (or whine).
Get it off your chest and plan your recovery!
Me...It was one of those stuptid moments... stepping off a curb and popping my knee.
After sweating about screwing my ACL, the MRI showed minimal damage. After 2 weeks off, I'm allowed to start building back up starting with light, slow (10 mph) cycling.
It's good to be back on the bike again though. I didn't realize how much commuting helped me decompress before and after work.

It seems I have been battling some sort of flu or respiratory ailment since about the beginning of November. I've taken enough Cipro by pill and by injection that I am absolutely Anthrax proof at this point, but still can't get my lungs clear.
On top of that, my back issues seem to be manifesting themselves with an alarming frequency.
My plan is to say to heck with it all and ride myself into the ground as soon as the weather is more consitantly warm.
I'm completely over it in so many ways.

Couple of ruptured intervertebral disks and a Pars' Defect means chronic back problems for me. I've been forced off the bike for a week now and I'm really feeling it. Might try a short ride today and see how it goes...
The Doc says I have two options:
1. Surgery. Ummm, no.
2. Drop some weight and strengthen my abdominals and lower back muscles to form a natural "girdle" of sorts. Well, I've been lazy of late, but I'm back on the wagon as of now.

I spent a couple weeks this year off the bike due to
1) respiratory illness. Routine office plague.
2) corneal scratch. Antibacterial/anti-inflammatory drops messed up my vision, and in turn, my balance.

Right now I'm struggling with a lot of back and shoulder pain from an old injury. It's really hard to stay focused when you hurt so much.

When I was 15 or so during football hell week I tore up my ankle really badly. Decided to have surgery rather then play part time with the injury and have been sidelined and sidetracked ever since :(
So now that we have all that negative energy off our chests...What are you doing with the time you have off the bike.
I'm finally catching up on some sleep and have some time to work on the touring bike build. (running cables today):thumb:
Oh yeah! I found episodes of "Due South" on youtube.
I mean...gotta shoot for something positive now that I'm done (for the most part) with my pity party.:p

Well I'm back in the gym trying to tone up and work on my core strength. I have many home improvement projects that need attention, but that stuff just makes my back worse, so I'm kinda pickin' at 'em a little at a time.
I'll also take a few rides around the neighborhood to see how it goes.
Small potatoes next to the rest of you, but wiped out on a patch of grease or oil that was masquerading as yet another wet spot in the rode while riding back from the grocery store last week. Road rash on my left ankle, knee, and elbow. Still a bit sore in places, but was back on the bike the next day.
Did a good job of protecting my bike with my body, scraped the outside of a pedal, and a small tear in the handlebar tape. Other damage, one sock with a large ankle sized hole in it, torn rain jacket, and while I'm pretty sure my helmet didn't hit the road, I can't be 100% sure, so a new helmet on its way as well. (I kept my old helmet when I purchased my last one as a backup. It never was involved in an accident, I just get a new one every few years to be on the safe side)

Ouch!
The large non-stick pads and lot's of neosporin got me up and about with the road rash down my leg after a similar crash. I was riding again the next day sporting the ever so stylish shorts and bandages.
The only thing that bothered me (besides the initial thorough cleansing of the scrapes) was the itching as it healed.
must.....not....scratch.......:twitchy:
For some reason my immune system decided to let the old chickenpox virus back into my life and I got done in by a case of shingles last Oct/Nov. They are gone but there is lingering nerve pain in my chest, side and back that is really starting to annoy me. Such is life.
