Do hub protectors actually work and do they protect your spokes when you grind? Is it worth the 20 bucks?

depends on how hard you are on your bike.

if your destroying hubs/spokes, then yes, it's good. if not, then no.....

hub protectors/drop-out protectors are needed if you grind, because your dropouts will get thrashed and torn up from the concrete or rails you ride, and keep them from closing the dropouts for longer usage, depending on what kind of protector you are buying depends on the price. If you go to Danscomp.com and search for hub accessories, in bike parts you will see a Primo Cyclone dropout protector for 14.99, primo products are known for quality it would probably be your best bet for a dropout protector

hahaahah whos the ****** that sed primo sucks lmfao he obviously doesnt hav a clue about bmx and probably rides a huffy from walmart, primo make the most used crankset around the power bites and there hula hoop rim is awesome, primo must suck seeing as so much pros ride primo aye and all a hub gaurd is gud 4 is protecting your spokes because they can wear down quite fast if u grind alot especially if u hav a descent bike with small dropouts or large flanges that expose ur spokes who cares about protecting dropouts all it does is keep them preti there not gona brake from grinding. go primo

Primo is certainly a very good company. Powerbites are great cranks.. and I have the primo hula hoop and pro cassette and it is also super super awesome. You may have had a bad experience with Primo, but in no way do they suck. Tell me whats bad about my hub and it'll be news to me. I ride street pretty hard and I've ridden the same wheel without one problem for over a year now. First time thats ever happened to me.
