i think get the electric strida front wheel + battery, retro fit into strida with dual speed. put friction generator on rear wheel rim to recharge battery pack.

Forget the friction generator, it won't charge a big battery like one for electric drive.

Looking at these pictures, the Strida design is very popular.

Great - you can it in the plane cabin with the first one and take a dwarf with for a ride on the second.

Sorry - that's not PC is it, but 'meant in the best possible taste'.

That's a quote from a camp Brit comedian of the late 1980s - Kenny Everet. He was so distasteful that the line was blindingly funny.

Look here between 4.00 and 5.00 minutes in for the reference.

That would mean that you could drive forever on one charge. Brilliant!!!!

I actually invented such a magical machine on my paper round when I was eleven years old after a science lesson about dynamos and electric motors. I really thought I would become rich and famous and walked about posting papers and chuckling that no one else had thought of it before me. I think every kid invents this between the ages of about 9 and 13.

i thought with tiny 305 wheels on the strida would power it at least enough to add a couple hrs to a charge?! no? that motor should be quite torquy being paired to such a small wheel..

i wonder how much weight it adds..

All up weight is 16KG so that's 6 more than the typical S clone.

It has lithium batteries too - not the dreadful lead acid ones. A lot of cheap electric bikes come with lead acid. They have high weight for power, low power output because the voltage falls off too much for you to use the rated capacity and if they are not charged immediately, they fail completely. Lithium is a very different story.
