I just picked up a pair of Deore shifters and Avid AD3 brake levers. The stuff was labeled as original equipment, and I only paid $34 for both which seemed like a good deal. Anyway, how do these mount on the handlebar? It seems like they should kind of fit together for a somewhat smooth setup, but I don't see how they possibly could. Where are the shifters supposed to be relative to the levers? Does anyone have a picture of a similar setup so I could see how it is supposed to be? Thanks.

Shifter pod under brake body, brake body next to grips?

That is what I thought, but they don't really fit together or look right.

Have seen shifts w\ the optical display positioned on the front of the h-bars.
The shifter is in a body vert angle...all I can think of..g-luck.

I looked at a friends and he has them mounted the same way I do. What confuses me is what this little screw on the inside of the lever is for. It doesnt seem to do anything. Anyone know why it is there?

Does it not move the lever itself in and out for a leverage change?

Yeah the screw changes the reach on the lever. If you screw it all the way in and give the lever a squeeze it will reset the reach so its closer to the bar.

Yes it does, thanks. I originally thought it was somehow supposed to hold the lever and shifter together.
