I twisted my knee and ankle ON MY RIGHT LEG! Go see the doctor this morning. Thankfully its my dayoff of working out and riding.
Been doing great, til now. I'm down to 280 and up to an hour of daily riding time on my OCR2. Man its a sweet ride, even on the crappy roads and gravel in SoIL.

If you have sprained your ankle, don't try to ride until the doc says it's OK. You'll feel like getting back on the bike long before you're acutally ready, and all you'll do is delay your full recovery. Trust me, I know.

I learned that rule with my left ankle surgery. I strted exercising way too early and damn near undid the progress.
Just got back from the doctor and the ankle and knee looks pretty good from the x-rays. Might have torn the knee cap connectors/stablizers (bad at big words!) a little (doctor didn't like all the movement of my knee cap and either did I! It hurt a bit!), so I'm in a brace to limit my side to side movement. But I'm ok to swim and light biking in a couple of days. I just got to keep the pedeling easy and no going crazy. I basicly don't want to over do it, but doctor doesn't want me to sit around for long and have it get stiff on me. So I'm off for a week with BEAUTIFUL weather coming up! Looks like slow pace walks in the park with the pup and the Young Prince and some nice cruising on the Hardrock. Doctor's orders you know!

Man I hope you get better soon. I know where you're comin from. I just got nailed by a car yesterday. Heres to a quick recovery for the both of us. ;)
Oh Man!
I did that around 3 weeks ago (stepped off a curb) and am just now getting back on the bike after Xrays, MRIs, and Cortizone.
It's strange how one stupid misstep can change your life.
Heal up and do your time.
we're pullin' for ya!

NorCal-Thanks! I read that! Bummer!
Jt-Same thing! I was looking at some post a day or two beforeand read your spill. In fact, it was going through my mind, "did I hear a pop?" Weird!
I got a great workout in the pool today. I was almost ready to puke after 25 minutes of laps. I signed up for real swimming lessons. I figure they could show me the right way to swim laps and different styles. I figure its cheap enough, no other equipment to buy except for goggles and a noseclip. Or that is what I'm trying to sell to the DW, also known as the chairperson of the checkbook! But its adding another fitness hobby and the pool comes with the gym membership anyways..........
Getting back on the bike Saturday. Got a nice flat and easy ride planned out after my WW WI.

Jerry, sorry to here. It has been four weeks since I cracked my two ribs and yesterday was my first time back on the Peace. 2 miles and I started feeling the pain and quit. Being an old fat guy with an injury sucks. (speaking personally)
I used to fall down and get up. Now I fall down and lay there for a while:mad:
Take good care of yourself. And congrats on the Giant. Very nice. Glad to hear the buyers remorse has faded in "sweet ride":thumb:

I have come to the conclusion, when your in your twenties, you bounce. In your 30's you bounce ..... back, once you pass 40, you break, repairs can be a long, complicated process, sometimes involving carpenters with Dr, in their names, working with titanium to shore up broken structures....

All too true about bouncing and breaking.
I'm scaring the hell out of 50yrs mark (I'll be there in August) and am getting much more paranoid about simple, everyday missteps than any bike related crashy thingies.
At least if I crash my bike...I'll have been doing something enjoyable (going down in a blaze of glory)...
If I slip in the shower, get sideswiped by my 120 lb dog, have a misstep off a curb, or trip over painted lines (I've actually done this), etc.,...
Well, THAT just seriously hacks me off.

The worst part is when the wife calls you an idiot while driving you to emergency :notamused: Good part for me, at least here in Canada, government health insurance pays the basic medical costs, must be worse in the US where you end up needing to pay for everything yourself.....
As for a bike crash, they can be just as irritating, if someone else does something to cause the crash, like the idiot in the land yacht sized stupid ugly vehicle texting on their crackberry, while swerving in and out of the bike lane.....
50 is about 2½ years off for me....

I turned 51 this year. You are spot on about a bike wreck. At least you have a story.
It is much more enjoyable to start a story with; "I realized I would have to go over the guard rail to avoid the truck", instead of "I knew I was in trouble when I felt the sneeze coming on. So here I am, $500 in chiropractor bills later".:notamused:

OMG!
I've had that happen too. Sneezes and Coughs are the bane of my existence.

Back on the bike today after WW's WI. Did an hour and feels really good, with brace on.
Off to the pool for laps!
