I just bought a camelbak and I'd like to know if anyone uses anything with water to liven up the taste? After a few hours water tends get flat.

Nope, nothing. I love water. Although I have been known to buy fruit juice at some of the bakeries I frequent.

I often mix just a bit of juice --cranberry, apple, grape...--to give it a little flavor. I don't much care for warm water either.

I'm with Chris on this one. Nothing but water in my bottles but I will drink Gatorade after a long ride.

Nuthin but H20 in my hoss M.U.L.E.
I fill the whole bag up with ice cubes, then water it down. Usually by the time I'm suckin on it consistantly, the water is plentiful and chilled nicely.
I've thought about putting some electrolite drink in it for a change, but I am just too nervous about dealing with a messy clean up or lingering aftertaste.

Peace out!

Dave

Filtered water in my bottles most of the time. On very long rides [more than 3 1/2 hours], I drink a 1/2 and 1/2 mx of water and gatorade.

Water in the Camelback, concentrated Cytomax in the water bottle. When I want Cytomax, I take a swallow from the bottle and chase it with water from the c/back.

Like RoadbuzzI don't like to put anyhing but water in my hydrapak and regular bottles because of cleanup issues. If I think I need something more, I put it in "disposable" bottles such as Ozarka Sport Pack water bottle, 24 ounces of spring water with pop up sipper that fit perfectly in a bottle cage. I reuse these bottles for drinks other than water and put only water in the hydrapak. I reuse these "disposable" bottles as long as possible, but always have the option of tossing them if I forget to clean them soon enough.

Raymond

I buy powdered mix of Gatorade and put just one scoop in and mix it w/water and then freeze the bladder overnight! I do this b/c our city water sux and taste awful! The frozen bladder against the back helps keep me cool down here in FL. (Even in the winter-Today is 80 F)

Been using Gatorade or Poweade in the waterbottle
but I think I'm gonna try Enervite or Cytomax
this year..

Does it give me more energy? I dont know, i feel like i have more energy, I also feel more alert when riding, mostly, I do it for the taste. I hate the taste of warm water, or the plastic taste you get after a few hours. Red Bull keeps the water tasting good, and i end up drinking more. I have also been known to put a few drops of lemon juice in my water. You dont really notice the taste; but you do notice the lack of the plasticy taste. Its also alot cheaper then Red Bull!

I tried Red Bull once. It didn't really provide any energy, although it did make my wallet a lot lighter!

Don't sport drinks rot your teeth ?

I mean, a little is okay, when your shagged out to help electrolyte levels, but I don't know about sucking it down half the day ; they have a lot of phosphoric acid.

Slightly off topic here but I lived in South Africa and would go to
the coast to dive once a month. During the drive home
as we drove over the escarpment
(one climb was 1500 - 2000 metres) I would use
Red Bull to combat the altitude/nitrogen
effect (getting really tired). seemed to work for me.
Hated the bubblegum flavour tho.
Of course as they say YMMV.
