Bicycle Mechanics - FreeWheel Troubles

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just recently bought a used Haro AL 1.0 from a friend and when I was messing around with it I notice the, so I thought, chain slipping, and I looked at it and I figured out it was the freewheel, I'm having difficulties removing it and need some instructions or tips. I have no money so I can't go out and buy any special tools.

You need a special tool called a freewheel removal tool. Since the freewheel needs replacing, it's probably best you go to an LBS to buy the new one and have it installed. It shouldn't cost too much.
Meh, I was looking around and I found a post about this, grabed a can of WD-40 and sprayed it around in there and it's working fine now. Thanks anyways.

You can buy the tool for less then the labor cost of having it put on at a shop most likely. The park fr-6 freewheel removal tool is the one you probably need. They are usually reasonably priced on ebay. If your not into fixing it yourself i would just take it to the shop. There are no work arounds to get a freewheel off with out the right tools, atleast that i know of.

WD40 is not a lubricant, just so you know.
But it did the job now didn't it. :)

Yeah my point is though you should probably get the freewheel repacked with grease though, since the WD40 breaks down any remaining grease that was in there...
