Wonder if they'll crack down a bit on the 'runners' next year at the race. I can see it getting out of hand soon if it gets bigger next year and more people show up in circus mode.

Rider's fiancée hit by police motorcycle

A police motorcycle hit a 20-year-old woman during Sunday's Clasica Almería in Spain. She is now in critical condition. Early reports indicate the woman is the fiancée of Andorra-GrandValira cyclist Eduardo Padres.
According to sportwereld.be, the woman was watching the race when she saw Padres at the head of the peloton. She ran alongside to cheer him on and the Guardia Civil motorcycle accompanying the race was unable to avoid hitting her.
Reports indicated she suffered a fractured skull and two broken legs. (SW)

Did he really hit him? It almost looks like he's grabbing his shoulder...

Yes he did. The television view from that jab was from behind the group.

In my experience, it's best not to f**k with guys named Mick.

Oh yeah, the guy went down. Beautiful. I'm surprised you don't see it happen more often.

Anyone remember Hincapie, Paris-Roubaix, years ago?

I wasn't gonna say anything :innocent:

I used to think that "for all intents and purposes" was "for all intensive purposes" when I was younger. It didn't make any sense to me, but that's what I heard people saying.

Reminds me of a cyclocross clip I ran across awhile ago of this guy NAILING a bystander with a KICK to the head. I can't seem to find it though... anybody got any ideas?

Bart Wellens?

about 1:00 in..

Video doesn't really show how good the contact was though (or what the spectator did to deserve it).

Reminds me of the part in A Dog in a Hat where Joe backhanded the Polish guy while in the peleton of some race in Mexico.

I believe the further back story I read somewhere mentioned how the spectator in question was being very obnoxious and spilling his beer on Wellens throughout the race before the kick too.

Hopefully you've orientated your hearing more better, irregardless of what you should of heard.
