Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Any Clyde Triathletes out there? I need advice

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What gear did you get and where did you get it?
What do I do after I get out of the pool and before I get on the bike?

I have a thread in the triathlon forum, but i want information specifically for us big folks too.

Most of my advise is old. Before the days of tri-suits, in the pre-Hammer era of the early 90s... The best advise I have for you is some generic stuff:

- Powder your shoes. Both the bike and the running shoes. Powder 'em so it looks like a smoke grenade when you put them on. Makes the transitions easier w/o socks if you can just slip and go without your feet sticking when you try to get your shoes on.

- Elastic speed-laces on your running shoes.

- The most important thing: Fasten your helmet before leaving the transition area. Don't unfasten it until you're standing up with running shoes on your feet. The worst thing is to finish a race and find a DQ next to your name for not having your helmet on properly.
