Ok, this is angering me to the point of starting a thread on it...
I have a Specialized Team Pro 26x1.90 in the rear, and a Maxxis HardDrive in the front. I bought them both at the same time, and the Maxxis tire never even came close to flat, the specialized tire....WENT FLAT 7 GOD DAMN TIMES! I've only had the tire like, a month too! And everytime it went flat, i changed the tube, using different brands each time. Specialized is awesome at making bikes....but when it comes to tires, THEY BLOW!

hmmm, I've ridden the Specialized Pro since last summer and rode through the winter in Niagara. Perhaps the problem is elsewhere?

A rim/rim tape defect perhaps? Have the tubes all failed in the same spot or do you know? I've found that I've been at fault more often than the equipment.

it's all different spots

Maybe theres some kind of odd pinch flatting going on...?

I'm a 200 pound rider and I ride on Specialized tires... I run 80 PSI on rough terrain and I've never had a flat of any sort.

I think its a PEBHAS error.

Good point. I've found that it's not uncommon to lose 10 or 20 psi in a very short time (2 rides). I don't know what your terrain is like but at close to 200 lbs it doesn't take much for me to pinch the tire.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but don't forget, that back wheel takes a lot more punishment than the front... at least on my bike (which seems to be attracted to every pothole on the road).

Your right. I have yet to try a specialized mtb tire that works as well as any other tire. 24" and 26"...they hook up about as well as slicks on dirt. Useless.

I dunno guys, I've been running Specialized Roll X for over a year on my bike and have never had a flat and can climb as good as anyone. If I were ordering tires tomorrow, I would get another set of Roll X.

Maybe its because I had a good tire to start. But my rollX washes out mroe than any other. And on skinnies....death trap.

I wanted to reply to this post pretty bad, but since he decided to curse using those words, who cares? Hope you have many, many more flats..... Maybe they are Heaven sent especially for you!

I still think it’s a PEBHAS error. Problem Exists Between Handlebars And Saddle ;)

Really, I've never heard of a tire causing a flat.... That's like saying a gun killed someone. Duh....

My Roll X pros flat less than my WTB mutanoraptors ever did. I think its PEBHAS here too...

I second what maelstrom said, 2 bikes, same tires, same bad riding... with the Roll-X, i cannot corner at all, plus i have 0 confidence on steep climbs/descents ... but... in Tuesday i ll get my new wheelset and a brand new pair of tires.... Specialized tires are BAD, especially the Roll-X.

I have a set of enduro pros that came stock on mine, they grip pretty well but only lasted half a season before they were shot. I dont think i'd get another set unless i could find them cheap.

Giant
Axiom
CCM (hehehe)
Kenda
Specialized
Maxxis
and Kenda once again.

i mean, like another time... A friend of mine bought a specialized HardRock equipped with specialized tires...and in a week, they just fell apart. BOTH of them.

I use Specialized Armadillo Hemispheres EX (1.9) on an off-road touring bike and like them a great deal. I have not had flat issues at all and the tread pattern (semi-slick) is perfect for my needs. I've not tried Specialized's "knobby" tires.

Just another viewpoint.

Not that the bike & tires win a race, it is clearly the rider, but the tires did not seem to hold him back.

why are you such as @$$hole? you contribute nothing to this forum, NOT ONCE have i ever seen you give someone advice, you just make fun of them. GET IT THROUGHT YOUR HEAD, there are people with different opinions than you, so sometimes, you should just keep your mouth shut. There is no point in making people feel bad.

Personal issues aside, I agree that Specialized tyres are not worth dropping your hard-earned folding on. I don't ride on them, but my partner does. Two things she complains about:

1. Poor grip in lots of terrain types, and
2. Too many flats.

I have personally found many of the things that have gone through her tyres and many of them wouldn't hurt a new born baby if you scratched their eyes with them!

They might not be the worst tyre manufacturer, but there are certainly better ones out there.

Listen people, if you're having alot of flats, it's NOT the tires... Period.... Try running more air pressure. I have always run about 50-55 lbs. in both front & rear tire. In total, I've only had about 3 or 4 flats over the past 11 years.... Go figure. No pinch flats, less rolling resistance, quicker acceleration. Need I go on? There are NO drawbacks to running a higher pressure than 95% of you are currently running.... What am I telling you all this? Because I no longer race & could really care less if you listen to me or not....

Have a good ride!

I've had no problems in 3 years with my Nimbus EX's but I didn't like the Roll X's traction characteristics for the riding that I do. That said I've had no problems with the construction or workmanship of any Specialized product.

Wateva u reckon mate.

I think a company who are dedicated to tyres and a company who only makes tyres is bound to be better (and i know from experience) than a company who makes everything. The dedicated company has tyres as their main focus and therefore can produce better tyres.

If youre looking for tyres, look no further: Michelin, Maxxis and Tioga

The S-works tires are good, but the others are bad. And yes Anthonaut has had bad experiences with Specialized tires. In one week he ripped a knob off one, and this wasn't with real harsh riding either. Again this tire wasn't a S-works.

Hopper

I agree, that MOSTspecialist tire makers, ie. Tioga and Maxxis are the better tires, but intense tires are good.

First of all, I wouldn't think it's user error, if he has evidence that many specialized fall apart. Maybe his riding is different. If it bugs the hell outta ya which it obvioulsy does you might want to get new tires.

Second, kleinmp99, you criticize for no real reason. You seem to think that you're big and can push people around and say a lot crap about them. Imbicile if you want to do that go to some other forum, we don't need flamers and people who care about putting a dang white sheet behind their bike and not covering the whole bike with it. OH NO ITS SUCH A BIG DEAL.

Thanks diamondback_man, i never did anything to him, ive just had bad experiences with specialized tyres and that is my opinion.

Again, thanks

All I have to say on this subject is that. I rode with one of specialized pro downhill riders down in NC. He rode maxxis tires! also sponsored by them but none the less.

This topic is like trying to get a Jury to decide the color of white bread... Everyone's like's & dislikes are their own. I personally like Specialized (bikes, tires, shoes, gloves) but that's my opinion. I have nothing but good luck with all their products, and most are very reasonably priced.... I have worn out many, many Specialized tires (Cannibal, Storm Control & Ground Control) over the years, and NEVER once did any of them fail, nor disappoint me in the least... I have 3 brand new Specialized tires in my garage right now...
