Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - frame weight

is four (4) lbs kinda heavy for a track frame, specifically a soma rush ? is a cinelli olympic much lighter? does anyone know?

anything under 6 lbs is just fine by my standards.

All I know is that my Cinelli Olympic is noticably heavier than my similarly equipped Steamroller.

My MTB frame is 3.5 pounds. That sounds heavy to me unless its a large sized frame.

i think my tvt carbon was about 1.4kg with fork, headset and bb. but i can't be bothered to take it apart to check.

How much do you weigh? Do you notice a difference when you ride after you go to the bathroom? If not, don't worry about a pound or two.

Well, the Somas, Surlys et al are all budget, Pacific Rim bikes made out of garden variety 4130. What do you expect? 3lb steel frames for 350 bucks?

4 pounds is on the light side, if anything. Track bikes are not made to be light, there are no hills on the track. They are designed to be stiff for sprinting and strong for crashing (which happens a lot in track racing).
