Northeast - Queensborough bridge - how is the snow ice this week?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
should I even bother riding tomorrow?
According to http://www.streetsblog.org/2009/03/03/snowstorm-aftermath-open-thread/#comments it's been plowed.
Thanks Stacy. Some good people posting in there.:thumb:
I usually try to peek out the window of the 7 train as we pull out of Queensborough Plaza - you can just get a glimpse of the on ramp of the path. But the last two days I actually got a seat - no way I was giving that up to go to the door windows:lol:
Yes but you still have to brave the frozen slush in the streets. I'll just be glad when Spring finally gets here.
indeed...Real Feel of 6F this AM...ugh
I did break down and invest in studded tires this winter, and while they do give you better traction it's a pretty slow and sluggish ride.
I haven't ridden since last Friday, and every time I take the subway (N/W) I always look at the bridge MUP to see how it is.
The side streets were still iffy in Astoria/LIC this morning. For that matter, cross streets on the UES were still iffy this morning.
I'm kind of chalking this week up as a "rest week". I'll jump back on the saddle next week.

me too - train again today...I have been getting seats, smooth/fast rides and am in the middle of a great book, so no complaints

Today I rode. The weather was just too nice this morning. The side streets in Astoria/LIC are another story...
The west side of the streets still have a lot of snow/ice buildup. The bridge MUP is A-OK though! :)
Overall, not a bad ride today.
I rode in Friday also - it was really nice...actually kinda warm on the ride home (I left work at 1:15ish). Skipped the studded tires since it was warm enough for no black ice - the regular knobbies make it through slush no problem in Queens.
gotta get back into it daily next week...I gained back about 5 pounds, haven't ridden much in the past two weeks.....

5 pounds?!?!?
slacker. I've put on 10.
Now the only problem on the MUP is the massive salt build up. Rode yesterday and got a nice mouth/face full when the wind blew.
Yummy!!
