I'll be doing all 3 races in the 4 field.

Ic3 Horse Country Time Trial
GS Tenzing Rhapsody Denton Crit
McKinney Velo / Jesuit Ranger Roundup RR

Anyone else?

40+ in all three, adding the P1/2 TT for giggles. Partnering up with my teammate, who won the State CX jersey this year in a walkover. We went 1/3 at Lago Saturday.

What 4 field?

4/5 crit ( don't need to get totally blown out of my first of the year crit ).
3/4 RR

Whichever 4 field you're NOT in. I'm racing the 4/5 fields actually. I'm still getting my race legs back after a layoff of a few years.

I might come and watch the crit race. I have kids this weekend so I won't be able to do the race. Are they doing that in the parking lot of Denton Water Works again?

Doing the crit and RR for sure, time trialing would be awesome if I had a decent bike / wheelset.

I'll be looking to the Northwest for the mushroom clouds.

You guys tear it up.

Edit: Where is the time trial?

Thank you for that. Procrit you're missing one of the best TT's in the state.

'Fraid not. Tunis-Roubaix on Saturday sounded like way too much fun to miss, plus it's closer to Austin.

That might be fun to go to just for watching. I am not in race shape yet, that is for sure.

That was a fun weekend of racing. I used the 12.4 mile out and back Horse County TT to practice a negative split, something I had never accomplished, the Denton Crit for some intervals, and the Road Race for fun. I was pleased with my TT, as I accomplished my goal of a negative split and ended up with an avg HR of my LT (sorry no PM). I placed 22nd out of 61 on a crazy windy day with a time of 32:17 for an avg of about 22.7 mph. The crit sucked though, as I got blown out the back about half way through. Props to the Plano Cycling guy who soloed it. The RR was fun, until the crash on the finishing hill. So pack finish in that race as I had to dodge the carnage. A buddy broke his collar bone. I don't think I'll ever do a 4/5 race again, I'll stick to the 4's for now. I know, I know, there are crashes in every field, but that was the SQUIRRELIEST race I have ever taken part in. All in all a good weekend of training.

+1 on the squirrel factor. I was out there as well - sitting at the back of the pack before that crash, too. I had a bad vibe from that group the entire day, and knew I had no chance of placing, so just took it easy and stayed back and loose in the pack most of the day. As for the last mile of the race, we had one rider almost take out the race official on the scooter, which caused 6 of us to fall back from the pack, and ultimately probably saved me from that crash (I was just closing on the pack when that happened).

Sorry about your buddy, and the other guy who I heard also broke his collar bone.

All in all, good races this weekend - the crit was fun and the RR worked out to be a good workout for me. Good stuff.

Broke the course record at Saturday's TT. P1/2 winner beat the 2 year old mark by 4 seconds, I took another tick off that and beat my own PB there by nearly a minute.

Nate, you should have been going for a positive split on that one. Headwind going out made it a longer leg.

Congrats on the course record! That was the best course I have ever done a TT on. Very fast at points, smooth roads. Thanks for the tip on the positive split, the idea hadn't even entered my head.

What did that guy do? I was up and to the right and the noise that made was very odd. Sounded like his pedal hit the scooter? That race official was patrolling the center line with gusto. There was one point where he was inches from handlebars and I was inside the center line.

I'm not positive what happened, you might be right about his pedal hitting the scooter, but the rider was on the yellow-line - maybe he freaked out when he realized the scooter was inches from him. From what I saw, he did a bit of a bunny-hop and shifted right, quickly. This caused a bunch of riders around him to jam brakes.

I can't really complain though, as that act probably kept me clear of the crash a few minutes later (which would have made it two Sunday races in a row for me where the end was a crash).

X is the spawn of some mad scientist experiment that took Fabian Cancelara and Jens Voigt and combined them into some unbeatable cycling monster. I'm beginning to feel like the Tom Danialson of our team ;)

Good. Worked for my teammate who made the long drive from SA. He got second in the crit from a 2 man break and fourth in the RR out of that break. I took 3rd in the crit after doing two "last" laps OTF of the field. The official got a bit confused and left the one lap sign up for two laps, yelled at us to keep going when we should have been finished.

We didn't have the overall results in hand but thought we had things covered going into Sunday, we didn't realize one guy was still close enough to take the win and let him into the winning break with my teammate. I just rode the rest of the race like a hard training ride and sat up in the field sprint thinking we were OK. Nope. So we were 2/3 instead of 1/2 like we thought.

I hate omniums. Nothing like killing yourself in two races the day before to see a bunch of chipper fresh legs show up the next day ;)
