I just finished reading "riding fixed". It came in the mail today. It was a beautiful day here in Doodah and there was much to be done after work. My lady and I rode the new Tango tandem down to the River Festival parade and took in the sites. We had that baby in high (I know, I know) on the way home. We went and got something to eat, watched the beginning of "El Mariachi" got cleaned up and she went to bed. She has to go to work early. So now it's just me and the pack of cats. They calm down after I feed them and I pull out the book. It's fantastic. Mayo, you got the stuff! Give us more. Thanks William and thanks Mayo. Tomorrow I'll listen to the CD. Oh yeah Mayo...............I always ride hard!

a friend is the founder/editor of 606mag.com, and I was thinking that too. But I prefer the 'zine-thing to the e-zine thing.

Just think, not only are two of us in Wichita, but two of us own that book, what are the freaking odds?

Critical mass here on the 28th, BTW, 6 pm exploration place parking lot, or thats what the poster said where i work-- the public library. I plan on being there.

Some of the stories, while reduced in size for a smaller town, remind me of some of my own experiences-- like riding through the hood and having black people tell me, don't you know where you are? And replying, yeah, i'm poor, i think im in the right place. And of course my occasional driver/cyclist confrontation.

Mayonaise just tells the story better. A lot better.

Good thing about zines as opposed to e-zines is that they're tactile, in your hand, and not subject to server crashes. But then, e-zines have the advantage of extreme accessability. Doesn't matter if you can't find it locally or order it - if you can log on it's there.

Yea, but the zine is a nice rag to take with to read on-the-go. Can't do that with e- anything. Yet. Thanks god. The richness of paper grains, the smooth surface, the maleability—all luxuriously remain.

As promised I listened to the most of the CD today. Gotta say I've liked it so far, hopefully I'll get a chance to listen more tomorrow. I wanna say "Mayo, you rock!" but that sounds so like everybody else. It's obvious you put some time, thought and effort into both the book and the CD. My hat's off to you. They've made a great weekend even better. Everybody, contact WK and see if he's got any left. Might not, mine's 194/200.

Yeah, there's something about good ol' paper and ink that just can't be replaced.

And most of the storeis are here. But, if Joe bails and cuts down the forum, they are gone. If there is a virus, they are gone. They are not centralized.

This was an effort to capture and put it in your hand.

Mayo's e-mail is on this page: http://users.penn.com/~retro/rev.htm

What I'd like to know is, are any of these zines (paper) available as PDFs online? Seems to me the purfect marriage of the two. I found some issues of Single Speed Revolution online once.

some others: (although, not in pdf form you have to order them. One of them is made right here in New Orleans - I'll have to check it out.)
