Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Cycle computer suggetsions please.

OK, am looking at getting a cycle computer. Nothing too fancy, but I would like quality.

At the moment I have my eye on the Topeak Panoram V16 Dual Wireless (http://www.topeak.com/products/Computers/PanoramV16DualWireless) or the new Topeak Panoram V10c (http://www.topeak.com/products/Computers/panoramv10c_cadence).

Functions I want

Multi Info Display (min of Speed, RPM and Clock shown together)
Completely Wireless
Current/Avg./Max. Speed
Current/Avg./Max. Cadence
24HR Clock
Total/Trip Distance
Total/Trip Ride Time
Under £50 (which NEITHER the V16 or V10c manage - both around £60-£65)


Any other functions are a bonus. I like the temp sensor on the V16, but don't see it as really useful. And I am not interested in measuring heartrate or calorie expenditure at this time.

So, apart from the 2 mentioned (and I do quite like the display format on them) any other good quality, cheap, MID, wireless cycle computers out there?

Just commuting and the occasional recreational ride.

There is no need to have ANY of these features at all. But if I have to get one I, it has to be wireless because I have a full sus.

I want cadence, just because I do ;). Hence why I don't want to spend too much on it.

So far I haven't seen anything that compares with either of the 2 I have mentioned, and whilst I prefer the shape of the V16, the V10c will show Odo, Speed, RPM and Time all at once. The V16 will only show Speed and RPM with either Time OR Odo, but not both because of the thermo.

Actually full suspension doesn't require a wireless setup. For example going from the bars to the front fork, wrap the wire around the brake cable housing. that takes you in a flexible line from the bars to the moving part of the fork that is attached to the wheel. a similar method can be used in the back.

If you definitely want cordless, with your budget I'd go for a BC1606L (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Sigma-Sigma-BC1606L-Topline-DTS-16-Function-Cycle-Computer-with-Cordless-Speed-15944.htm) it has all the features you asked for.

Build quality and reliability is very good.

I have a few cycle computers mostly Sigma.

The corded version is a lot cheaper and it's what I have on my racer.

It might be a better bet.

No replacing expensive sender batteries. :)

No getting back from rides and discovering that it lost connection. :thumb:

Wireless computers are a PITA.

The sigma is very easy to install and the cadence kit is easy to fit - once you realise how it connects.

Definitely recommended !!

I'll second the sigmas ... Good computers for the money. Easy to read display, easy installation, and very rugged. Can also be mounted on the stem if you prefer that. I am still using an older wired BC1100. Check out their website. They have an interactive demo that lets you see the computer working.

My next choices would be Cateye and then Topeak. That model you specify looks OK to me.
