I have the Planet Bike Protege cyclocomputer, for several months now with no problems.
Today in the middle of my ride after 1 big climb and 1 big descent(3.5 miles @40+mph) when I began my 2nd big climb
I noticed that my cc started to fake.It was actually doubling my speed so I was *flying* those hills at
10-15mph (very impressive indeed !!!).I stopped to check the magnet and the sensor but it all seemed ok
and there was no rain/water that could have shortened anything so I had really no idea whats goin on.
Anyways I kept *flying* those hills like Lance (I so wish) and then I got to a little descent that got me to a real 30mph and after that everything seemed to be ok again-back into 5-8mph pace.

This is my regular training ride so I know it's excatly 36miles and today when I got home it showed 38.5miles.

Did you try hitting it a couple of times? It just might work............

:D :D :D, that's what homer would do..

ronyex, maybe you were just that fast! Its either you or the Cyclo.. :D

BTW. did you pass any overhead high-V powerlines? They tend to have a magnetic field that disrupt our "intruments".. ;)

It may be that you have the magnet mounted sideways. At lower speeds this can cause the sensor to emit two pulses per revolution instead of one. Check out Sheldon Brown's website. He has a write-up on this.

And while on this ride where you computer started doing the funky turkey, were you going past/alongside/under major power lines? I have "gone" 50 mph, while actually crawling up a hill alongside power transmission lines. . .

Passed over a traffic sensor (they're essentially metal detectors and emit EMP) on a descent...

That's just about what my computer did, when it wasn't blinking and producing other wierd symbols!
