Hello all I am interested in purchasing a LEMOND ZURICH FRAME. Is this a good touring frame? what are its plusses and minuses if you will. thanx! I will probably ride mostly during the weekend and I wanted a steel frame anyway. Every once in a while I may enter some biking events, but I probably will not be doing much racing, however I would like a frame thats respectable and durable. thanx again!

The 2004 hybrid Steel/CF or the 2003 and prior all steel? I have had a 2004 Zurich for more than 500 miles now and I can think of no minuses. I have had no problems related to the frame, and just a few minor ones that required a tweak here and there. I have said in many other threads there are just not enough O's in the world to describe how smooooooooooooth this bike is.

I do average 20 miles per day, every day, except in driving rain storms or thunderstorms. I do not race nor do I plan to, but the Zurich would lend itself to an occasional race. I think this bike is probably the best one for my type of riding.

Just what do you mean by touring?

If you are picturing restaurant-to-restaurant rides, large group rides, maybe even some serious hammering with a few friends for a couple or three hours, that's pretty much the kind of bicycling that I like to do. I'd think a Zurich would be great!

If you're talking about loading the packs for a cross country bike trek, I'd want something with a longer wheelbase, rack fittings and slightly different equipment.
